In a lab in the University of Colorado Cancer Center, an experiment for finding cure to lung cancer took place. Cells have a unique chain of DNA which is the link to the birth of a new cell. Cancer Cells have a broken link in their DNA. Scientist have found that Milk Thistle Extract cured mice of lung cancer by fixing the broken link in the cell.. On top of that it’s a natural substance and is non toxic. Scientist are hoping it can be a break through on finding a cure to lung cancer… and other cancers.

Title:
A New Species of Fossil Silky Lacewing Insects That Lived More Than 120 Million Years Ago

Date:Oct 7, 2011

Summary : A new type Extant Silky Lacewings fossils were discover recently in Yixian China. A team of researchers from the Capital Normal University in Beijing (China) and the Institute of Biology and Soil Sciences in Vladivostok (Russia) were the people to discover the fossil.  The fossil was the fist of their kind to be discovered. This ancient animal was a part of the ineuropteran insects family. Their broad wing shape, dense venation, spectacularly patterned and hairy wings is the way scientists know what insect family they are a part of.  Today, the  ineuropteran insect family is very small, restricted only to southern Africa, southeastern Asia and Australia. Scientist believe the Extant Silky Lacewings lived over 120 million years ago. This discovery is expected to shed light on the evolutionary history of lacewings relation with insect groups still around today.

What you found most interesting about the article and why:

I found that scientist used the fossil to study the eveloution of insects. Or in other words to see how much they have changed. I also find it interesting that we discovered a new kind of organism that lived over 120 million years ago! I think it’s interesting that after so many years of scientific research one fossil can change the way we look at somethings.

Hello world!
